Required Experience & Credentials – SICU Nurse
Active RN license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 2+ years of SICU experience
Strong critical care skills, including management of high‑acuity post‑surgical and trauma patients
Ventilator and hemodynamic monitoring experience required
Proficiency with EPIC or other EMR systems
Typical Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios
SICU: 1:2 (may vary depending on patient acuity)
Role Overview
Facilitate and coordinate programs serving hospital inpatients, outpatients, families, the community, and employees of both the hospital and university, delivering evidence‑based care in accordance with the nursing process, as well as Johns Hopkins Hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
Provide direction and guidance to team members to ensure quality, safety, and excellence in patient care.
Collaborate with, and provide leadership to, a multidisciplinary healthcare team in support of program initiatives that enhance quality, safety, and care outcomes.
Participate in and promote quality improvement initiatives—clinical, financial, and operational—that strengthen and advance the specialty area.
Initiate and engage in research activities relevant to the specialty.
Implement specialty‑specific initiatives as directed by nursing and medical leadership.
Foster a clinical environment of service excellence that reflects the values and standards of Johns Hopkins.
