Summary
The Mortgage Loan Processor 2 is a critical customer‑facing position responsible for the processing and pre‑underwriting of residential mortgage loans. The role requires maintaining regular contact with both external and internal stakeholders to meet workflow deadlines, coordinating the loan file from receipt to closing, and ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate and compliant with underwriter and program requirements. Strong communication skills, multitasking ability, excellent time‑management and an exceptional attention to detail are essential.

Duties & Responsibilities
Processes FHA, VA, Conventional, and Jumbo loans.
Conducts financial analysis— evaluates credit reports, income statements, assets, appraisals, title and insurance documents, and advises on loan structuring.
Ensures a minimum level of documentation (e.g., credit worthiness, income and asset data) is submitted prior to delivering a loan file to Underwriting, utilizing fraud and compliance tools and review alerts.
Demonstrates working knowledge of federal and state guidelines, rules and regulations such as RESPA, TILA, and HMDA.
Updates fees based on the preliminary Closing Disclosure, corrected documents, and loan change requests, ensuring any redisclosure‑necessary changes are accurately noted and verified in the loan origination system.
Organizes and uploads documents to the image system, validating items and indexing them into the appropriate folders.
Nurtures a pipeline of loans, maintaining timely and compliant flow to meet internal and external service‑level agreements.
Prioritizes and monitors daily workflow to ensure all loans are processed according to expected timelines.
Communicates effectively—transmits, receives and accurately interprets information using appropriate tools and techniques.
Collects required documentation from borrowers and serves as a liaison among origination, underwriters, realtors, and borrowers, including first‑time home buyers, private clients, and bank customers seeking purchases or refinances.
Works closely with Loan Officers and Personal Production Assistants to provide a timely, accurate customer experience throughout the mortgage process.
Interacts with mortgage professionals to obtain information from borrowers or clarify documents in loan files.
Manages an average pipeline of loans within the assigned operations center.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of one year of residential mortgage processing experience or comparable experience in roles such as Processor, Loan Officer Assistant, Loan Officer, Closer, or equivalent mortgage operations position.
Preferred Qualifications
College degree.
Current working product knowledge of FHA, VA, Conventional and other loan programs such as Jumbo, Portfolio, construction‑to‑permanent, down‑payment assistance, and bond programs.
Experience in automated underwriting including Fannie/Freddie (CONV/FHA/VA/RD).
Self‑motivated, self‑reliant, able to succeed in a remote position and work from home.
Excellent disposition, communication skills and work ethic.
Strong multitasking ability with meticulous attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong listening and problem‑solving skills.
A commitment to integrity and customer service.
Knowledge of federal and state guidelines, rules and regulations such as TRID and Reg B.
Ability to analyze income and tax forms accurately and calculate income for all types of borrowers.
Strong knowledge of mortgage procedures, processes and documentation.
Ability to work independently on varied loan applications.
Ability to prioritize to meet loan closing deadlines.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, mortgage and banking applications/software.
Exempt Status No – eligible for overtime pay.
