Located just west of downtown Dripping Springs, DSHS is a comprehensive high school that serves nearly 2,500 students in grades 9-12. Approximately 95 percent of our students indicate plans to attend either a two- or four- year post-secondary institution.
Emphasizing high standards in music making through a variety of musical styles, the award-winning Dripping Springs Choir program is a consistent UIL Sweepstakes recipient with numerous students earning individual accolades each year.
Description/Notes Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of student learning styles and needs in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students in accordance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods aligned with district requirements.
Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved activities.
Serve as a positive role model and support the mission of the school district.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student development.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in the selection of instructional materials and equipment.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and required documentation.
Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).
Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Motion: Frequent walking.
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
Environment: Work inside; may work outside; regular exposure to noise.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours.
Qualifications Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Salary Range $56,000 to $71,937 Per Year. Choir Director $6,000 Stipend.
