Summary
The Library Manager maintains a professionally operated library with a welcoming and helpful atmosphere in which caring is encouraged, reading is fostered, and knowledge may grow. The Library Manager partners with teachers and students in the pursuit of learning through the use of library media center materials and equipment. The Library Manager provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to support the school’s instructional program.

Responsibilities
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese
Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well‑being of self and others
Protects the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization, including client names, donor information, investigation results, and financial information
Adheres to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy
Approaches all interactions and duties with a solution‑oriented mindset, fostering teamwork and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization
Performs other duties as assigned
Develops and promotes the role of the library in the school
Works closely with teaching staff to plan and deliver the information‑skills curriculum
Promotes the effective and efficient use of the library and library resources
Collaborates with teaching staff to cultivate a love of reading in children
Manages the school library and its resources throughout the school
Selects, acquires, maintains, and withdraws library stock, ensuring a balance between subject and ability
Organizes, catalogs, and classifies library resources, both electronic and print‑based
Manages the school library budget in conjunction with the budget holder
Supervises and trains staff and pupil librarians working in the library
Makes the library attractive and accessible to all children and staff through displays, guidance, and publicity materials
Keeps the principal, staff, and parents informed about the needs and development of the library and information service in the school
Knowledge
Knowledge of children's literature and children's resources that support the curriculum
Knowledge and understanding of library and information skills
Knowledge of teaching and learning, including educational issues
Awareness of child development and the role of reading in child educational development
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma
Associate degree or sixty college hours preferred
Evidence of knowledge of library procedures, technical services, awareness of trends in children/young adult literature, material selection, appropriate book selection (quality children/young adult literature), and basic reference skills
License and Credentials
Reliable transportation
Valid driver license
Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills
Substantial library experience, including working with schools or with children
Community links: Experience liaising with local literacy events and promoting them in school
Experience organizing literacy and other events within school, such as visiting authors
Detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, able to work well independently and on a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
