RELATIONSHIP MANAGER I
Responsible for acquiring small business and personal clients and deepening existing relationships, integrating both business and personal clients. Acts as a trusted strategic advisor, providing financial advice and connecting client needs with CNB’s products and services. Maintains a disciplined business development plan and focuses on acquisition, retention, and expansion of client relationships. Key success measures include acquisition of new clients, deposit and fee income growth, loan and line volume, risk management, sales networking, and community presence.
Must be in good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and have, or be able to obtain, registration/licensing with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry".
What will you do?
Acquire & deepen client relationships – generate new business and consumer client relationships within assigned segments and expand them to become the client’s main bank option.
Manage a portfolio of existing clients and deepen relationships through cross‑selling efforts. Develop relationships within the CNB community to facilitate service issues and opportunities.
Deliver an exceptional & consistent client experience – ensure needs are met, escalations resolved, and consistent delivery centered on key client needs.
Improve sales & banking acumen through collaboration, training, and required curriculum.
Capture a holistic view of client needs, draw insights from data, and provide sound financial advice.
Maintain awareness of policy updates, stay within delegated lending authorities, and manage risk consistently with bank policies and regulations.
Partner with collaborators to introduce clients to the right partners in the CNB ecosystem and champion the Global Relationship Management approach.
Interact professionally with all levels of bank personnel, corporate and bank clients, demonstrating commitment to quality service.
Maximize client contact – network, be visible in the community, and represent the bank in civic and professional activities.
Comply fully with all operational and credit policies, regulations, and laws.
Center on client needs, understand growth ambitions, and steward relationships with empathy and trust.
Lead business development – nurture existing relationships and win new business through best practices and networking.
Collaborate with partners in PBB (GRM) and other divisions to win business and find the best solutions for clients.
Communicate actively, listen, and articulate CNB products’ value proposition.
Apply critical thinking to translate situations into insights for tailored advice.
Adapt to ambiguity and pivot quickly to advise clients.
Organize effectively using tools and best practices to deliver a consistent and exceptional client experience.
Conduct business in a highly professional manner.
What do you need to succeed? Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of direct sales experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a financial institution.
Additional Qualifications
Deep knowledge of CNB’s personal and business products, especially for Preferred clients.
Strong regulatory and compliance understanding, including CIP and KYC.
Understanding of economic environment and its client impact.
Ability to review financial statements and advise accordingly.
Negotiation skills to balance profitable relationships.
Knowledge of CNB’s policies, procedures, and regulatory obligations.
Safe Act registration and ongoing compliance.
Compensation Starting base salary: $65,296 – $104,304 per year. Exact compensation varies by skills, experience, and location. Eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
