About KCBD KCBD NewsChannel 11 is Gray Local Media’s NBC affiliate in Lubbock, Texas, and the dominant #1 station in the market. From our state‑of‑the‑art newsroom, control room and studios, we produce more than 50 hours of local news programming each week across our NBC, FOX and Telemundo stations, and stream news and other local programming throughout the day.

Job Summary KCBD is seeking a hard‑working, creative, and energetic storyteller to join our award‑winning team as a multimedia journalist. We will invest in, train, and provide opportunities for the selected candidate to grow and prosper.

Duties/Responsibilities

Be a team player.

Pitch and develop enterprise story ideas daily.

Conduct thorough interviews, research, and fact‑check.

Shoot, write, edit, and deliver stories on‑camera on multiple platforms.

Report live on the scene, especially from developing news.

Deliver content to digital and social media platforms.

Make beat checks.

Develop sources and contacts.

Work with the team of photojournalists, though some solo shooting is expected.

Collaborate with other team members to deliver the best possible product on‑air and on digital.

Qualifications/Requirements

Empathy for others and a dedication to collaboration and community service.

Strong writing skills; ability to write conversationally and creatively.

Strong camera presence; ability to inform and engage.

Video editing knowledge.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred: degree in journalism, communications, English or equivalent background.

Preferred: some newsroom experience.

Availability to work various hours for breaking news or special events as required.

MVR check required.
