Executive Director – Delaware Branch
Lead the YMCA of Delaware branch in Middletown, building membership, directing staff, fostering volunteer engagement, managing a $57 million operating budget, and advancing community impact.
Job Description Serve as the strategic leader for a new branch, ensuring a transformative Y experience for members and the community. Responsibilities include promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, supporting fundraising and growth initiatives, and upholding the YMCA’s core values.
About Us The YMCA of Delaware, founded in 1891, is the state’s largest non‑profit organization dedicated to strengthening local citizens through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. With seven branches statewide, a youth resource center in downtown Wilmington, and an overnight camp and conference center in Worton, Maryland, the Y serves more than 164,000 people.
Qualifications
Experience working with Boards, supervising government contracts, strategic planning, staff leadership, and fiscal management.
Three to five years in a leadership role with proven success in branch operations, staff management, board development, membership marketing, fundraising, and community program development.
Ability to think conceptually, strong analytical skills, and assertiveness to manage a diverse set of responsibilities and priorities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
Essential Functions
Accountable for team performance and achievement of branch objectives.
Ensure high-quality programs and excellent customer service.
Model inclusive management behaviors and embrace diversity in all aspects of leadership.
Hire, coach, and manage all direct reports, aligning with association people practices.
Ensure branch meets targets and delivers meaningful qualitative results.
Design and implement strategy to drive membership and program enrollment growth while maintaining a transformative Y experience.
Implement member engagement strategies aligned with center and association goals.
Oversee expansion of programs and services in line with YMCA objectives and key results.
Build partnerships within the community to broaden access to the Y.
Communicate community benefits and Y impact to stakeholders, fostering positive relationships with partners, businesses, school districts, and government entities.
Enhance the Y’s reputation through collaboration with partners, businesses, and non‑profit organizations.
Manage the budgeting process to align resources with strategic priorities.
Identify growth opportunities, conduct monthly forecasting, and address financial deficits promptly.
Lead monthly variance report reviews with the Community Vice‑President, implementing action plans to stay on budget.
Recruit, develop, and maintain a highly effective Advisory Board.
Drive successful fundraising and financial development to meet annual objectives.
Lead board, volunteer, and staff participation.
Serve on task forces and committees as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
