Events and Community Engagement Specialist Reports to: Development Director

$33-$35/hour; $68,640 - $72,800

This position works on the Events & Communications team which prioritizes contributed income goals and donor experiences, as well as loyalty and satisfaction among our clients’ donors. This position is expected to center, model, and champion each client’s core values as they cultivate and steward donors at any giving level.

*This is an in-office position.*

Key Responsibilities: Client

Attend meetings, events and other related activities

Develop a relationship with clients and their staff

Work with JMA managers to assist with outreach to clients, project and budget management and to develop and review monthly reports

Assist with monitoring spend (monthly); review monthly report content

Broadly

Create and assist with fundraising to support annual appeals, campaigns, top donor prospects, and events/sponsorship

Produce donor prospect lists for individual giving, events

Provide marketing, communications and branding materials to support outreach and fundraising

Provide planning and support for events

Share knowledge and experience around corporate and business support in Twin Cities market

Events and Community Engagement

Execute events using your experience managing them and fundraising

Identify and solicit corporate/business event sponsors based on org & affinity

Execution of events, including:

Auction/game solicitation, organization (bundling) and set up at events

Program and event print and electronic collateral materials

Corporate sponsorship – identification, outreach, follow up, and tracking

Event List project management: queries and mailing lists (from databases and Excel) for invitations, newsletters, communications and fundraising campaigns; mail merges

Write and create donor solicitation materials for direct mail, email, and social media in partnership with other JMA staff, and external vendors.

Communications

Create calendars and coordinate regular donor communications, including but not limited to quarterly donor newsletters, email and digital correspondence, annual reports, and gift acknowledgments.

Write content

Implement organic and paid social media strategies across social channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.

Curate and manage social media calendar

Support day-to-day management of social channels (creating content, posting, monitoring and responding to comments and questions, analyzing and reporting campaign results)

Implement paid social media campaigns, monitoring results and adjusting budgets and strategies as directed

Stay current on social media trends and platforms, bringing new ideas and recommendations on how to further enhance clients’ social presence

Development and Individual Giving

Write wealth screens and set up 1:1 top donor meetings; manage meeting schedules and provide updates and outreach

Build and manage relationships with prospects and donors through personalized cultivation and outreach efforts including in-person meetings, event invitations, and regular communication and acquisition/stewardship efforts.

Identify and create cultivation strategies for top prospects; implement these strategies in conjunction with the client’s President/Executive Director, Advancement Director, Board of Directors.

Database and Acknowledgements

Generate acknowledgments for all gifts to corporate/foundation donors

Update donor records (contact information, deadlines, guideline updates) keeping organized print/digital records for reconciliations, audits and spend history

Assist as needed with database projects

Experience/Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

3-5 years experience

Experience working with various organizations private and public sector

Aptitude for data analysis and strategic thinking

Ability to solve problems efficiently, creatively, and with attention to detail

Ability to make a fundraising ask

Organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and meet multiple deadlines

Ability to collaborate to set priorities and manage multiple projects, within and outside JMA’s individual giving department.

Ability and willingness to exercise professional courtesy and discretion at all times and maintain confidentiality, ensuring donors’ privacy.

Experience using a CRM database preferred.

Excellent writing/editing/drafting skills, research and information compilation skills

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with teams

Excellent data and computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Bonuses are awarded to staff based on extraordinary work output, bringing in new clients and a recommendation from a manager. Additionally, awards of more ESST/PTO are/can be given in addition to or instead of a cash bonus.

Overtime: (over 40 hours per week) paid at a rate of time and a half.

Employee Safe and Sick Time (ESST) & Paid Time Off (PTO)– ESST/PTO will begin accruing upon hire. All employees will earn ESST/PTO at a rate of 0.0909 per hour worked. This equates to earning 1 hour of ESST/PTO for every 11 hours worked. Employees may choose to use their ESST/PTO award for mental or physical illness, treatment or preventative care; a family member’s mental or physical illness, treatment or preventative care; absence due to domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking of the employee or a family member; death in an employee’s immediate family; closure of the employee’s workplace due to weather or public emergency or closure of a family member’s school or care facility due to weather or public emergency; when determined by a health authority or health care professional that the employee or a family member is at risk of infecting others with a communicable disease; vacation days; and holidays.

IRA participation (JMA contributes 3% if employee participates)

Life Insurance and LTD – at no cost to employee

Healthcare plan reimbursement is available to employees who are not covered under another(s) healthcare plan and are required to purchase an individual or family plan (being covered on a significant other or parents plan does not qualify). Healthcare reimbursement in the amount of $250.00 per month for an individual plan is available if you are the “primary” on your plan ($250 per month = $3,000.00 per year for insurance). Healthcare in the amount of $500.00 per month for a family plan is available if you are the “primary” on your family plan ($500 per month = $6,000 per year for insurance).
