Job Description
We invite you to join Takeda as a Rare Disease Business Manager for the Gastroenterology Rare Disease Sales Team, based in Manhattan territory. In this role you will drive product demand, build relationships with healthcare professionals, and impact patients’ lives across targeted physician offices and key clinics.
OBJECTIVES
Understand and implement the marketing plan, clearly articulate the brand’s value proposition, and use only on‑label and approved materials to achieve sales and patient objectives.
Communicate disease, product and formulary information truthfully and consistently with Takeda compliance policies and applicable laws.
Manage the territory using discretion and judgment to maximize sales performance among physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
Analyze local and regional market trends to build short‑ and long‑term goals that support a successful business plan.
Operate compliantly in a matrix environment that includes Patient Services, Specialty Infusion Pharmacies, and Managed Markets, protecting confidential patient information.
Create productive business partnerships with internal stakeholders to develop compliant sales approaches aligned with company and territory plans.
Seek clarification from management or Compliance & Legal when uncertain about potential violations of law or compliance policies.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Meet regularly with targeted HCPs and staff within the assigned geography to understand and discuss their needs and the value of Takeda products.
Utilize a consultative, solution‑oriented selling approach for patients with Short Bowel and/or Ulcerative Colitis.
Focus efforts on achieving the greatest positive patient impact.
Manage a territory marketing and promotional speaker program budget in accordance with all Takeda compliance policies.
Share best practices and actively participate in Regional and National meetings.
Use the CRM system to document account profiles, pre‑ and post‑call activities.
Education, Behavioral Competencies and Skills Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA).
3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or related clinical or industry experience; or 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda.
Ability to discuss therapeutic strategies with decision makers.
Ability to apply clinical and business expertise and effective selling skills.
Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills.
Residence within or close proximity to the assigned geography.
Adaptability to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities.
Commitment to ongoing learning and self‑improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
Execution of marketing strategies at the local level.
Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify unique selling opportunities and adapt to market changes.
Understanding of the managed care landscape and its impact on business.
Strong collaboration skills in team environments.
Experience in specialty injectable sales.
Experience selling products distributed through specialty infusion pharmacies.
Experience selling products requiring extensive coordination with patient services.
Working knowledge of Gastroenterology.
Experience with Orphan drugs and highly specialized medical sales.
Ability to analyze complex technical data and develop strategic, actionable business plans.
Training Requirements
Position and continued employment are contingent on successfully completing mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations.
During training (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week maximum), the employee is a non‑exempt worker and eligible for overtime; they are ineligible for incentive programs.
After successful training completion, the employee transitions to exempt status, is paid bi‑weekly, and becomes eligible for incentive and bonus programs.
Licenses/Certifications Valid Driver’s License.
Travel Requirements Must have a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $66.11 – $90.91 (actual pay may vary by qualifications, experience, and location).
