What You’ll Be Doing
Business Development and Ongoing Relationship Management
Work to become a trusted advisor and strategic partner to middle‑market and large corporate clients, private equity firms, and family offices through regular contact, providing value‑added ideas and building relationships. Create and drive strategy to acquire, expand, and retain client relationships in order to generate revenue and deepen share of wallet. Identify product and service opportunities for other business units, participate in developing creative solutions to client needs, coordinate presentations, and bring in partners when appropriate. Manage risk and return and drive quality for new and/or existing clients. Actively identify and mitigate regulatory, reputational, operational, and credit risks. Client Onboarding / Closing
Lend strategic support to Associates, Senior Associates, and the Credit and Services teams to execute client requests efficiently and effectively. Collaborate with the deal team on externally‑facing closing activities as needed. Client Portfolio Maintenance
Provide direction to Associates and Senior Associates in preparing internal portfolio monitoring reports (Leveraged Loan Trend Cards, Shared National Credits, Criticized Asset Reports, etc.). Respond to approval requests for overdrafts, manual wires, NSF wires, ACH suspensions, and related matters. Risk Management
Understand key parameters of the Bank’s Risk Appetite to inform new credit opportunities for Senior Management and Credit Risk Management teams. Maintain regular dialogue with clients to assess changes in financial performance and coordinate with Portfolio Managers to recommend adjustments to the Bank’s underlying risk ratings. How You’ll Succeed
Business Development – Responsible for new strategic relationship acquisition and business generation, driving new business through quality leads, referral networks, and prospect visits, and identifying cross‑sell opportunities. Client Engagement – Actively develop and maintain CRM to ensure accurate pipeline forecasting, bolster market presence within community and industry associations, and participate in initial Fit Assessment discussions. Strategy Focused – Assist in structuring new deals to align client expectations with bank requirements, acting as a strategic advisor as needed. Relationship Management – Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to deliver top‑notch client service and maintain open communication as new deals progress. Leadership – Guide credit events for new strategic relationships, collaborate with Portfolio Managers during analysis and approval, and assist in deal negotiations. Who You Are
Have at least 10 years' experience as a Commercial Relationship Manager and 5 years' experience as a Business Developer. Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Possess formal credit training. At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000.00 – $240,000 based on experience, qualifications, and location. Eligible candidates may participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may include a discretionary bonus component.
