Director of Manufacturing Operations

Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a hands‑on Director of Manufacturing Operations to lead production at their Charlotte facility. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced manufacturing leader with a background in regulated production environments, including CPG, pharmaceutical ingredient compounding, nutraceuticals, food, beverage, or similar industries.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all day‑to‑day operations for a single‑site manufacturing facility
Own performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity
Direct and develop production floor staff, managing schedules and daily operations
Production planning and scheduling across the facility
Equipment operation, maintenance coordination, and troubleshooting
Ensure compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and other regulatory standards
Develop, implement, and train on SOPs and operational procedures
Manage batch records and batch release processes
Oversee quality systems management and product specification compliance
Manage raw material inventory oversight
Drive continuous improvement initiatives — Lean, Six Sigma, OEE, waste reduction
Partner cross‑functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Leadership
Build and maintain strong relationships with 3rd‑party engineers and facility personnel
Lead and prepare for FDA inspections
Be a visible, on‑site leader engaged daily on the production floor
Qualifications
10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
Background in CPG, pharmaceutical compounding, nutraceutical, food, beverage, or regulated manufacturing
Proven experience running manufacturing operations or a full facility
Strong understanding of GMP‑compliant environments
Experience with FDA inspections, batch records, and batch release
Hands‑on leadership style; comfortable being on‑site daily
Comfort operating in a startup or early‑stage environment
Bachelor's degree preferred — Engineering, Operations, or related
