Position Purpose
To manage the day‑to‑day operations of the unit, including scheduling, staffing, and oversight of clinical functions to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
Essential Functions
Efficiently uses internal and external resources to ensure appropriate staffing of the unit based on accepted standards of care. In outpatient settings, develops and coordinates a clinical program schedule and goals and may provide direct patient care. (25%)
Manages unit personnel by hiring quality staff to meet the needs of patients and their families, provides ongoing supervision and direction to the staff, and evaluates staff performance including recommendations for personnel actions. (20%)
Participates in the development and holds staff accountable for hospital, nursing and unit policies, procedures, objectives, competencies, performance improvement initiatives, and safety, environmental and infection control standards. (20%)
Maintains departmental records and reports and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes. (10%)
Maintains knowledge base in the specific clinical area and promotes professional staff development. (10%)
Assists in the development of unit operating and capital budgets. Maintains unit budget and productivity within appropriate parameters. (10%)
Assists with department charge master, coding process and billing and chart reviews.
Education & Certification Requirements
RN Degree from an accredited institution.
RN License active in IDFPR.
BLS Certification. ACLS Certification highly preferred.
Experience
At least 1 year of leadership experience.
