Overview
What You Will Do
This team supports the development of digital twins and technical baselines through terrestrial LiDAR scanning and BIM modeling. The program focuses on delivering accurate, reliable building data to support operations, planning, and engineering efforts across facilities. As the Reality Capture Team Lead, you will lead a terrestrial LiDAR and BIM team delivering scan-to-BIM and digital twin capabilities using Leica BLK360 and RTC360 systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a cross-functional LiDAR & BIM team
Define modeling scope, schedule, and Level of Development (LOD)
Plan and oversee terrestrial LiDAR scanning strategies:
Scan station planning
Line-of-sight optimization
Target and control network strategies
Coordinate field operations, modeling workflows, and stakeholders
Serve as primary point of contact for LiDAR/ BIM deliverables and technical baselines
Define and enforce QA/QC standards:
Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) thresholds
Coverage and completeness requirements
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, and best practices for scanning and modeling
Oversee:
Point cloud registration (Autodesk ReCap / Cyclone workflows)
Revit model production (LOD 200 - 300)
Final deliverables and data packaging
Coordinate data management with IT and stakeholders (storage, transfer, security)
Run KPI tracking and continuous improvement efforts
Support technical baseline and digital twin initiatives
Minimum Job Requirements
5+ years in:
Reality capture, BIM, or AEC project delivery
Strong experience with:
Terrestrial LiDAR systems (Leica BLK360, RTC360 or similar)
Autodesk ReCap and Revit workflows
Proven leadership experience across field and office teams
Deep understanding of:
QA/QC standards (RMSE, registration accuracy)
LOD and BIM coordination
Education/Experience Position requires an Associate's Degree in an Engineering or Technical field and 7 years of related experience, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

CloudCompare, Navisworks
Experience in secure or campus-scale environments
Experience building teams, programs, or new workflows
Work Location The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. (Position will be cleared to this level). Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens.
