Materials Designer 2

Kforce has a client located in Beaverton, Oregon (OR) looking for a Materials Designer 2. The Materials Designer 2 will be focused on the everyday consumer brand, targeting consumers who buy product for quality and long-term usage rather than trend buyers.

Responsibilities The role focuses on developing and implementing material concepts, ensuring cost‑optimized solutions, and maintaining strong material cost margins for the everyday consumer brand.

Requirements

Minimum 2+ years of experience in Footwear Materials Design.

Experience with Kids apparel.

Previous industry experience.

Must include a Portfolio.

Experience with Kids (grade school, preschool) and CORE business (entry level into the brand, bigger accounts but lower end price points).

Strong sense of materials cost margins and ability to drive value at a lower cost for materials.

Understanding of the CORE consumer, storytelling, and their role in the design process and partners.

Preferred Requirements

Knowledge of seasonal gates and setting up product materials numbers.

Experience with Leathers – genuine leather, synthetic leather, and ability to identify and understand their differences.

Knowledge of materials duties (import taxes).

Proficiency in software/technical requirements: CLO, Viscom, Adobe, CAD.
