Job Description
This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
The
Graphic Producer
is responsible for creating written and visual on-air elements under tight deadlines in a
live broadcast environment , including control room support. This role combines strong
editorial judgment ,
content writing , and
graphics workflow expertise
to ensure all visuals are accurate, compelling, and aligned with the show’s storytelling needs and deliver on time.
Key Responsibilities Editorial Leadership & Content Accuracy
Participate in editorial meetings to understand story priorities and upcoming segments.
Research, write, and summarize content to be transformed into graphic elements.
Translate editorial needs into clear visual requests.
Fact‑check and verify all information that will appear on‑screen.
Refine text for clarity, accuracy, grammar, spelling, tone, and impact.
Anticipate graphic needs for breaking news and shifting rundowns.
Graphics Creation & Workflow Management
Create graphic elements in
iNews
and maintain accurate slugging and labeling.
Build, modify, and manage
Vizrt
and
Flowics
templates, including real‑time updates during live shows.
Customize template fields (text, images, stats, data feeds) and organize playlists for control room execution.
Check all graphics for accuracy, clarity, and visual quality under tight deadlines.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with content and executive producers to identify innovative ways to visually enhance on‑air storytelling.
Coordinate graphic requests from reporters, show producers, assignment desks, and control rooms.
Collaborate with the
Art Department
and
Real‑Time Graphics Department
to maintain and update the show’s graphic look and dailies requests including Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality projects.
Communicate and coordinate with directors, editors, designers, technical directors, talent, and other production staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of graphics.
Live Show & Control Room Support
Provide real‑time graphic updates during live broadcasts.
Respond quickly to changes, breaking news, or last‑minute requests.
Troubleshoot graphic issues and ensure seamless on‑air execution.
Additional Responsibilities
Stay informed on the latest graphic tools, technologies, and workflows.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer or supervisor.
Maintain an organized workflow to support fast‑paced production demands.
Qualifications Basic Requirements
Degree in journalism, communication, graphic design, and/or production.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in television production or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment.
General computer skills: Microsoft Office, iNews and Avid Media Central.
Knowledge of Vizrt, Chyron, Flowics technology.
Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal).
Desired Characteristics
Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.
Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story desired.
Creative and highly organized.
Detail oriented.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends.
Willingness to work flexible hours including late and/or last‑minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
