Rheumatology Thought Leader Liaison I/II Southwest Region

Job Description The Rheumatology Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) will act as the face of the AbbVie Marketing team with External Experts, developing, implementing, and maintaining interactions for the purpose of insight generation within assigned geographies. The TLL works within a team-based environment to optimize brand performance across AbbVie Rheumatology. The role is field‑based and focuses on the optimization of national and regional marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with Annual Strategic Brand Plans.

Key Responsibilities Thought Leader Engagement

Identify, build, and strengthen commercial relationships with External Experts, emerging leaders, and relevant patient and professional associations within assigned geography.

Develop regional engagement plans for External Experts and ensure consistent tactical execution throughout the year to drive key marketing engagement.

Lead consulting sessions and External Expert engagements to gather real‑time insights, validate trends in national and regional markets, and generate actionable recommendations in support of brand and business objectives.

Connect HCPs with cross‑functional partners to support partnership opportunities and elevate patient care.

Strategic Marketing

Provide real‑time qualitative insights to cross‑functional partners to address business needs and inform brand strategies and tactics.

Demonstrate in‑depth understanding of external and internal drivers across multiple stakeholder groups and appropriately connect AbbVie Integrated Brand Teams on opportunities for collaboration based on aligned objectives and industry standards.

Understand the competitive landscape, provider dynamics, and competitive intelligence across the assigned geography.

Lead the execution of key national/regional conferences and provide strategic support for state society meetings.

Lead partnerships with field leadership to optimize pull‑through of marketing strategies.

Coordinate the direction and deliverables of multiple external vendors and internal departments, including Agency Partners, Marketing functions, Market Research, Legal, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Office of Ethics and Compliance.

Key Skills

Understanding of Rheumatology disease state and competitive landscape.

Ability to provide in‑depth insights based on the brand’s key business questions to inform marketing strategy, resource optimization, and tactical development.

Mastery of verbal and non‑verbal communication and presentation skills, live and virtual.

Experience working collaboratively with integrated, cross‑functional teams and influencing without direct authority.

Ability to navigate a matrixed organization to impact decision making across functions.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting pharmaceutical products.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field.

Advanced degree or previous sales/marketing experience required. MBA preferred.

Minimum 5 years of sales or marketing pharmaceutical experience, including clinical liaison, sales training, marketing, senior account executive or district manager experience.

Driving a personal auto or company vehicle or powered material handling equipment.

Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade. Individual compensation will depend on many factors, including geographic location, and the company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
