The Agency You’ll Join The New York City Mayor’s Office oversees city services across the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration is working to make the city more affordable, reduce inequality, improve public safety, improve efficient delivery of services, and strengthen the economy. The Team You’ll Work With The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services ensures that agencies managing the city’s social services are run compassionately and equitably, and that the public health and healthcare delivery systems deliver results for all New Yorkers. With a portfolio of approximately $22 billion, the Office, led by Deputy Mayor Helen Arteaga, focuses on bold initiatives within and across city agencies. Agencies and offices reporting to the Deputy Mayor include NYC Health + Hospitals, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Department of Social Services (Human Resources Administration and Department of Homeless Services), Administration for Children’s Services, NYC Aging/Department for the Aging, Department of Youth and Community Services, Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, Department of Veterans’ Services, Office of Community Mental Health, Office for People with Disabilities, Office of Food Policy, and Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence.
Responsibilities
Develop, assess, and evaluate policy proposals related to federal advocacy and budget management, aligning with administration policy goals and city benefit.
Make recommendations to the Deputy Mayor, the Chief of Staff, and other senior officials, and plan and execute approved proposals.
Manage reforms and policies related to federal policy and budget issues, including contract payment issues, in coordination with City Hall colleagues and agencies.
Act as a liaison with communities, community advocates, elected officials, and civic organizations to communicate on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the Office of the Deputy Mayor.
Coordinate with relevant agencies, boards, commissions, organizations, and institutions to pursue initiatives, meet project goals and timelines, review work products, and maintain positive relationships.

Able to quickly absorb complex technical documents and brief senior staff.
Excellent time management and research/analytical experience (plus).
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Interest and awareness of NYC budgeting, federal policy, public health, mental health, and social services.
