Role Overview We are looking for a hardworking and passionate Technical Designer to join our growing team. This individual will work hand in hand with the Creative Director from design inception through production. This is a hands‑on and collaborative role. Active leadership in all fittings and the creation of impeccable tech packs are crucial to the success of this role.
Qualifications
7+ years in fashion apparel industry required with a focus on the Contemporary market.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Share required
Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite and Illustrator required
Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for apparel business and ability to work effectively as a team player in a small environment.
Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
Experience working with overseas factories.
Must understand the brand ethos and relate to our overall design aesthetic.
Responsibilities
Own the fit approach and approval process for all categories of the collection from development through production
Categories include wovens, cut/sew knits, fully fashioned sweaters in tops, dresses, bottoms and outerwear.
Conduct fit sessions in office: work closely with our standard fit model to identify fit issues and figure out how to resolve them; execute or articulate garment pinning/cutting/taping as needed
Collaborate with design during sketch hand off to identify best construction methods to achieve their vision.
Assist our designer with tech packs for development including construction details and specs.
Have a strong understanding of pattern balance and shape to help advance the development process to production by providing detailed information/ references / specs to our factories.
Ensure garments are fully measured and prepared for fittings.
Communicate with overseas factories via email and video calls on comments, construction questions, and production timing
Establish pattern standards, fit consistency and approve grade rules
Create all production fit approval comments, spec standards, TOP approval specs and graded measurements and hand off to the factory.
