Electrical Controls Drafter/Designer We are seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Drafter/Designer to develop AutoCAD electrical standard drawings for control panel layouts, assembly, BOM, and IO wiring diagrams. The role involves Database & Catalog Management and customization per I&C standards. The ideal candidate will also be competent in completing electrical connections to components within the drawing package.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain electrical design templates and libraries, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Collaborate with electrical engineers to develop detailed electrical system designs from sketches, specifications, and other data.

Assist in selecting electrical components and materials.

Manage and prioritize multiple design projects to meet deadlines.

Work closely with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and objectives.

Prepare and review design documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Create a Bill of Materials, including manufacturer part numbers, quantities, and footage for PDC buildings, MV & LV electrical equipment, and control systems.

Develop Electrical Area Classification plans and details.

Route cables in cable tray systems and calculate cable tray fill with minimal guidance.

Create tray routing plans and understand Instrument Cable Block diagrams.

Create instrument installation details using engineering data sheets with minimal guidance.

Perform fieldwork to obtain accurate information and create sketches for project design.

Produce conduit and grounding drawings.

Calculate cable lengths and conduit fill.

Perform corrections to drawings such as P&ID’s, Grounding Plan, Cable Routing Plans, Tray Plans, Wiring Diagrams, Schematics, Panel Layouts, E&I details, Building Layouts, and Loop Diagrams.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.

Experience in MCC, PDC, and control panel design.

Ability to perform quality control reviews and revisions of drawings.

Strong skills in CAD design and documentation best practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in drafting control system architecture diagrams and network topology.

Ability to draft control system schematics, panel layouts, and assembly diagrams.

Proficiency in producing MV/LV switchgear layouts and elevation drawings from a one-line electrical drawing.

Strong collaboration skills to coordinate with designers and engineers and liaise with contractors, suppliers, and clients.

Work Environment This role requires a blend of office-based work and fieldwork as needed, depending on project requirements. The work involves using CAD software to produce detailed electrical designs and coordinating with various project stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
