RSM is seeking a Senior Associate for its Value Creation team within its rapidly growing Deal Services practice. The Value Creation team focuses on identifying value in the context of transactions for buy- or sell‑side clients. Team members work collaboratively with colleagues in Deal Services and Management Consulting and benefit from extensive exposure to senior investment professionals, company executives, and firm leadership.
Responsibilities
Support buy‑ or sell‑side private equity or corporate clients and uncover EBITDA improvement opportunities within the transaction perimeter or stemming from contemplated downstream integration.
Evaluate and validate EBITDA and working capital improvement opportunities by rapidly absorbing and analyzing data, and synthesizing hypotheses that result in growing the top line, optimizing operations, and/or reducing cost.
Perform multi‑faceted quantitative analyses on targets that are being carved‑out and/or integrated. Targets can span multiple industries.
Interview company executives and department heads to understand current state of operations and business processes and develop analysis and plans to allow clients to meet their objectives.
Utilize research, analysis and critical thinking to assess the financial and operational impacts of integrations and separations.
Model the anticipated operational and performance improvements comprehensively, assessing potential implications on adjacent processes and businesses, understanding associated risk and estimating cost‑to‑achieve.
Discover underlying trends and zoom in by priority on what matters the most for our clients and what would have the biggest impact.
Identify and apply the right expertise from RSM’s other consulting service lines to generate insights and add value.
Present a substantiated and visually compelling analysis to leading Private Equity Investors or middle‑market Company Executives within Quality of Earnings reports (e.g. validation of pro forma adjustments) or as separate deliverables unrelated to financial diligence.
Work in a fast‑paced, value‑driven deal environment, offering tremendous opportunities for learning and growth.
Basic Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field and at least 5‑6 years of related work experience.
Management consulting, operations, investment banking, private equity, or strategy/corporate development experience.
Experience working in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong interest to coach and develop team members and disseminate knowledge and experience.
Self‑starter with the ability to work independently / with limited direction when necessary.
Strong quantitative & analytical skills and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights under demanding timelines.
Understanding of financial statements and operational performance metrics.
Artificial intelligence tools, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Strong interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills both internally and in a C‑suite setting.
Ability to travel on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years or more of financial diligence, operations diligence or value creation working experience and familiarization with the deal process and related terminology and deliverables.
Education
BA or BS in Business, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
MBA from a top business school is preferred.
Other Requirements
Travel requirements: 30%–40%.
Compensation Range: $85,100 – $161,700
