Learning and Development - Technical Instructional Designer 4
for a
Contract
with a client located
in Redmond, WA (Onsite) and ideally strong hands-on content writing, proofreading, taxonomy development and portfolio- required.
Rate Range: $80/hr - $90/hr (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)
Top 3 Must-Have Hard Skills & years of experience for each:
Minimum 6–7 years' experience with content writing.
Minimum 6–7 years' experience with proofreading.
Minimum 6–7 years' experience with taxonomy development.
Typical Day in the Role:
Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to develop internal employee experience tools related to campus experiences and backend tools that support those front-end experiences. The role will consist of collaborating with designers, researchers, program managers, and product managers to gather requirements and translate them into clear, engaging content. The candidate will write UI content, shape product voice and tone, audit terminology, and uphold UX writing and content strategy standards.
Key projects: This role will contribute to the development of AI-focused tools that enhance internal user experiences.
Candidate Requirements:
Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain evidence of strategic thinking, understanding of UX design principles, and a broader perspective on user experience.
Hard Skills Assessments
Expected Dates that Hard Skills Assessments will be scheduled: asap
Required Candidate Preparation: Candidates should have a portfolio of writing samples, especially those related to UI/UX content design, prepared prior to the assessment.
Summary: The main function of a Technical Instructional Designer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.
Job Responsibilities:
Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
Maintain records and files of work and revisions
Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or English, journalism, communications
5-7 years’ experience required
Experience in creating documentation for a technical audience
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to read some programming code
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Provide previous work or portfolio along with the resume; Samples that demonstrate how the candidate has solved UI writing problems, ideally related to UI and UX content
