Executive Director, Real Estate Development and Counsel
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and legal expertise across a broad range of real estate and related matters for Baptist Health and its affiliates. This role oversees property acquisition, development, transactions, and asset management, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Executive Director partners with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to support organizational growth initiatives, mitigate risk, and drive effective real estate strategies. Reports to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Assets/Real Estate.
Responsibilities
Provide legal counsel on real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, and asset management.
Lead and support complex real estate transactions, including negotiation and execution of agreements.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents such as lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements (PSAs), mortgages, closing documents, and government‑related contracts.
Manage and advise on real estate‑related litigation and risk mitigation strategies.
Partner with internal stakeholders across departments to support strategic initiatives and operational needs.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal leaders, external partners, and regulatory entities.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Experience Requirements
10+ years of real estate law experience.
10+ years of negotiation experience.
Education and Certification
Juris Doctor (JD).
Active license to practice law.
Preferred
Licensed Lawyer - ABA.
Driver's License - DMV.
