Radiation Protection Team Leader/RP Manager 3

What You Will Do Provide leadership and oversight for Radiation Protection programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Report to the Group Leader of Radiation Protection Field Support and collaborate with Facility Operations Directors, Division Leaders, and other managers across multiple scientific disciplines. Serve 25% of the time supporting the Joint Laboratory Office‑Nevada (JLON) in Nevada, with travel as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of RP policies, procedures, and systems.

Act as an advisor to subordinate staff and project teams on facility processes, hazards, safety and security protocols, and provide solutions to a wide range of radiological issues.

Coordinate with engineering and operations staff to prepare hazard assessments, training, and technical reports.

Implement regulatory updates to meet DOE and other regulatory requirements.

Manage activities of individual contributors, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, forecasting, and budgeting.

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physical Science, or a related field.

At least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated experience in RP program implementation, facility operations, safety and security, compliance, and supervision.

Knowledge of DOE and LANL missions, culture, management systems, and safety and security requirements.

Active DOE “Q” or other Top Secret clearance.

4‑year nuclear experience under DOE O.426.2A is required.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree or current professional certification as a Health Physicist (ABHP).

Experience with change‑management principles and processes.

Knowledge of DOE and LANL organizational structures, budgeting, and procurement.

Job Commitment and Working Conditions Regular appointment employees must serve one year in this position. Responsibilities include sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, speaking, reading, hearing, and routine travel.
