Freedom Alliance makes a profound impact on the lives of combat veterans and military families, helping them overcome the wounds of war and providing college scholarships to the children of heroes who have sacrificed life or limb for our country. To further these efforts, we are seeking candidates to fill the role of Media Relations and Promotions Manager.
Title: Media Relations and Promotions Manager
Position Background: The Media Relations and Promotions Manager will increase the public’s awareness of Freedom Alliance and our life‑changing work. The person in this role will expand the organization’s participation in national conversations about support for military families, wounded veterans, national service, civic participation, and related issues. The candidate will write press releases, book interviews, and help the organization share its accomplishments through television, talk radio, podcasts, speaking events, and other media. In addition, this person will promote inspirational events to increase awareness and participation. The ideal candidate will have a record of accomplishment in traditional and emerging media, digital media, and forging relationships with media outlets.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Pitch and book appearances for spokesmen on talk radio, television, podcasts, and other media.
Promote and book speaking engagements at community clubs and organizations for organization spokesmen.
Draft and distribute media advisories, press releases, op‑eds, and other communications.
Secure publication of op‑eds and commentaries in opinion outlets.
Promote Freedom Alliance achievements to media and supporters.
Coordinate with management on communications and event messaging.
Track and analyze communications metrics to refine strategies and demonstrate ROI.
Accountability and Qualifications: 1. The performance of the Media Relations and Promotions Manager will be measured by:
Ability to regularly secure media appearances.
Strengthen the public’s awareness of Freedom Alliance and our achievements.
Pay tribute to those we serve by telling their stories, honoring their memories, acknowledging their sacrifices.
Ability to multitask, solve problems, implement solutions, and work with different teams in a cooperative, collaborative way.
Have the ability, through your work product, to inspire, have fun, educate and inform in a positive and uplifting manner.
2. The qualifications for this position include:
Desire to make a positive impact, tell the stories of heroes, and celebrate the special people and historic events that make our country great.
2–3 years of media relations experience and track record of success.
Network of media connections.
Interest in current events, veterans and military issues, civics, and service‑related issues.
Travel and flexible work schedule are required.
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Salesforce and ability to learn other applications.
Ability to work from Freedom Alliance headquarters in Winchester, Va.
Prior military service or family military service is helpful but not required.
This is a
full‑time position
with a competitive salary and generous benefits that include medical/dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with 5 percent matching, and paid vacation and holidays.
