Job Summary The Sr. Strategic Account Representative (Sr. SAR) works collaboratively with the inside and outside sales teams to represent a comprehensive array of products and services used to create a complete 21st Century Learning Environment. This role requires deep knowledge of School Specialty’s offerings, including furniture, equipment, education essentials, educational technology, and proprietary safety and security products. Positioning and presenting these offerings is key to success within the customer base. A critical element is the ability to assess customer needs and provide solutions that drive sales growth while strengthening relationships. The role is expected to build and foster collaboration within Team Selling and to meet or exceed sales forecasts.

Work Location

This is a work-from-home role.

Qualified candidates must reside in the Northern California territory.

Compensation Information

Annual salary range of $90,000-$100,000 with a quarterly sales incentive plan.

What You’ll Do

Develop Strategic Account Plans containing objectives for each Strategic Product Category within the Company's 21st Century Safe School value proposition, considering current business with the customer and the opportunity based on spend per student penetration analysis maintained by the Company.

Understand education market dynamics and trends to promote School Specialty’s complete value proposition; manage sales opportunities from identification through post-sale support with customer insight and learning environment design.

Establish and build relationships at the local level with key school districts to develop growth/penetration strategies and execute sales plans; understand customer objectives to present appropriate learning environment solutions.

Collaborate within School Specialty’s team-sell model to achieve sales objectives across the breadth of the company’s value proposition and product offering to grow and penetrate accounts.

Maximize effectiveness using tools and resources (Stratum & OneForce) and fully utilize Salesforce.com (OneForce) to drive opportunities.

Establish and moderate regular team discussions around bonds and other funding sources for learning environment opportunities; minimum expectation of one session per assigned territory per month.

Manage travel & entertainment budget and budgets related to other business expenses (e.g., samples, trade shows/conferences) aligned with corporate strategy and budget.

Complete ongoing proficiency and professional development training, including time in fulfillment centers and with other departments to understand operational flow.

What We Expect You To Bring To The Table

3-5 years of experience in K-12 furniture, educational essentials, and equipment project management/sales or related field.

Sales process skills – time management, territory management, financial management, and questioning/probing skills.

Ability to build networks, including via social media.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Acceptable driving record, valid driver’s license, the ability to drive, and insurance in a program-compliant automobile.

2-5 years of successful outside sales experience in furniture, education essentials, equipment, and/or education technology in the K-12 market preferred.

Proficiency in CRM (e.g., Salesforce.com).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint).

Education and/or Certifications Required

4-year college degree (Business, Marketing or Education preferred) or equivalent work experience.

Physical and Mental Demands

Light to moderate sedentary work; ability to sit, use a computer, and telephone. May require travel and occasional lifting as needed. Mental demands include multi-tasking, decision making, problem solving, and data analysis.
