Portfolio Optimization Analyst
The Portfolio Optimization Analyst provides client access to the physical and financial energy markets. The analyst assures accurate strategy development and execution to optimize client portfolios, maintaining confidentiality of market positions and strategies, and acting independently to analyze and respond to emerging market conditions. The role may require non‑standard business hours.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Develop strategies and execute trades to achieve targets.
Ensure adherence to all company credit, compliance, and risk policies.
Perform advanced technical and analytical modelling.
Capture all relevant trade data in the appropriate systems.
Create operational and financial reports as required.
Ensure compliance with ISO tariffs.
Communicate directly with brokers, traders, operations, accounting, middle office, fuel departments, system operators, transmission owners, generation owners, and other counterparties as required for assurance of operational excellence.
Working Conditions Moderate travel required.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Market experience with PJM, NYISO, ISONE, ERCOT, or CAISO required.
Preferred Qualifications
Generation modeling, hedging and optimization experience.
Understanding of heat rates, spark spreads, physical and financials.
Experience trading power, capacity, FTR, and/or fuels.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced and stressful environment, with organizational skills essential to handle multiple tasks and interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Superior oral, written, and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel.
Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is: $80,640–$133,080. The range represents the low and high ends of the salary range. Actual salaries vary based on factors including location, experience, and performance. The total compensation package may also include annual bonus, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards. The position may be eligible for the benefits program, which includes medical, vision, dental, 401(k), and flexible spending accounts.
