An insurance company in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced
Commercial Lines Underwriter
with deep expertise in
ISO (Insurance Services Office) rules, forms, and regulatory compliance . This role is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing commercial risks while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and industry regulations. They will be the subject matter expert for the team on all ISO compliance.
Responsibilities
Underwrite new and renewal commercial lines business (GL, Property, BOP, Package) in line with company guidelines
Apply expertise in ISO rules, forms, classifications, endorsements, and rating methodologies
Analyze risk exposures using applications, loss runs, financials, and third‑party data
Determine appropriate pricing, terms, conditions, and coverage structures
Ensure compliance with state regulations, filings, and underwriting authority limits
Manage renewals to drive retention, profitability, and rate adequacy
Review and approve endorsements, policy changes, cancellations, and reinstatements
Communicate and negotiate underwriting decisions with agents and brokers
Monitor portfolio performance and take corrective underwriting actions as needed
Collaborate with internal teams (actuarial, claims, risk control) to support underwriting strategy
Stay current on ISO updates and regulatory changes
Support audits and provide guidance to junior staff as needed
Qualifications
3–7+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
Demonstrated expertise in ISO rules, forms, and regulatory frameworks
Strong analytical, decision‑making, and risk assessment skills
Knowledge of multi‑state compliance requirements
Excellent communication and relationship‑management skills
Proficiency with underwriting and policy administration systems
