The Systems Designer will support engineering teams by creating and modifying detailed 2D and 3D designs using computer-aided design tools. This role is responsible for developing components, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) that meet Oshkosh standards, while contributing to ongoing product development, configuration updates, and engineering changes across multiple product lines. This position offers exposure to a wide range of equipment and systems, supporting both new development and production-driven design work.

YOUR IMPACT

Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models for components, assemblies, and sub-weldments using Siemens NX

Apply GD&T practices to update and release drawings based on engineering markups, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design intent

Develop sheet metal parts, brackets, and small weldments, supporting mechanical design needs across various product lines

Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and part structures in accordance with company standards and engineering requirements

Prepare and process Change Notices (CNs) to support design updates, product improvements, and obsolescence management

Utilize ERP (migrating to InforLN) and PLM (Teamcenter) systems to create part numbers, manage product data, and maintain configuration accuracy

Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to gather technical data and ensure design feasibility

Support new development efforts driven by sales orders, including creation of new options and configuration-specific designs

Assist with product maintenance activities, including compliance updates, value engineering, and resolution of obsolete components

Provide hands-on technical support for prototype builds, pilot runs, and production issues

Perform self-checks on all work to ensure accuracy in dimensions, tolerances, and adherence to CAD standards

Demonstrate both drafting and modeling proficiency, including the ability to fully dimension and document designs

Contribute to medium-scale development efforts, supporting system-level changes and enhancements across existing platforms

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent* with two (2) years of experience in design.

Experience designing sheet metal components and small weldments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent* with six (6) years of experience in design.

Experience using Siemens NX or similar high-end 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA)

Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial design environment

Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill

Exposure to ERP systems and engineering data management processes

Experience creating and interpreting detailed engineering drawings with full GD&T application

Exposure to hydraulic and/or electrical systems within mechanical design environments

WORKING CONDITIONS

*Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.

Pay Range:

$64,500.00 - $103,500.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
