Footwear Designer

Compensation: $60-68K
Responsibilities include:
Design conceptualization to commercialize finished product.
Partnering up with brand specific merchandizer
Keep cost, target price, & duty structures in mind while design and development process through entirety of design & development cycle.
Researching and forecasting fashion, materials and market trends
Sketching, CAD work and creating specs and tech packs for the manufacturing team overseas
Contributing to both the development and sampling of new collections
Aiding in the production process
Ordering and tracking samples requested
Understanding and focusing on specific customer needs depending on the brand and product category needed.
Creating and managing seasonal brand line sheets
Setup and maintain cad approval on web portal for either or both company or licensed assigned brand.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (domestic and international)
Learning curve
Continuation of understanding the fitting process
Continued exposure to research & competitive shopping
2+ year technical development experience in the footwear industry, which includes the footwear development process from inception through production (pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality).
Interpersonal relationship exposure with internal and exterior Vida partners
Exposure to line building process while you work closely with your directors and merchandizer.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in design or related design experience
Must have a basic understanding of project management and problem-solving concepts
Understanding of the product development creation process
Ability to manage multiple projects & must be a self-starter.
Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign software
Hand sketching ability and quick ideation capability
Ability to research market trend information
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and discipline
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
Must be motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced industry
