Position Overview Pantheon Data is seeking a highly skilled and motivated

Speech Writer

to join our dynamic communications team. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in writing and editing diverse communication materials, conducting interviews, and supporting various media and public relations efforts. The

Speech Writer

supports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Office of Corporate Communication (SEA 00D) by developing compelling speeches for senior leadership. NAVSEA SEA 00D supports the Command mission of designing, building, delivering and sustaining the U.S. Navy's ships, submarines and systems through its strategic communications efforts. Representing more than 86,000 employees globally, SEA 00D provides strategic guidance, planning and execution support for internal and external communication, including marketing requirements and legislative engagement. The office provides direct support and strategic advisement to the Commander on all communication matters.

Responsibilities

Provide speechwriting support for NAVSEA Commander and Executive Director to include development of message to align NAVSEA initiatives with those of the Secretary of the Navy, Chief of Naval Operations and the Office of Legislative Affairs, and to provide support for the development of strategic communications documents.

Produce concise and properly edited products that clearly and logically convey complex information and ideas for conferences, symposiums, testimony, ceremonies and other events.

Work directly with senior leaders to develop themes and messaging that align to and complement their speaking style.

Collaborate with scheduling and administrative teams to understand logistics of speaking engagements.

Communicate with organization leaders on objectives and goals of communication deliverables.

Adapt written communication style to the personal style of the speaker.

Required Skills And Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience as a speechwriter.

Experience with NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense, as well as naval history, heritage and traditions to include issues in the news and current events.

Demonstrated experience writing speeches for senior defense and/or military industry leaders (Echelon I or II preferred).

Experience using Navy and Associate Press Style guidance.

Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.

Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.

Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Education Bachelor's degree in English or Communications field.

Clearance Requirements U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location Washington Navy Yard; Onsite 5 days per week

Compensation The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $127,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
