Job Title:
Mechanical Designer
Job Purpose The Mechanical Designer will support the Project Engineer by producing detailed layouts to achieve a functional design prototype or assembly. These designs primarily relate to Wireline and MWD type instruments, and some downhole tools. The designer is responsible for completing detailed designs of all components within the final layout and for assisting in building and testing the final product and assemblies.
Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities
Provide design layouts for mechanical parts and assemblies
Detail design of mechanical piece parts and assemblies
Specify mechanical tolerances and determine stack‑up for proper assembly
Maintain documents engineering change status
Prepare and update assemblies and BOMs
Provide design clarifications to machining vendors
Education And Experience
Two years of mechanical drafting or a technical degree
Knowledge of machine shop practice is a plus
4-6 years of experience with Solid Works
Knowledge of Auto‑CAD 14; familiarity with Auto‑CAD is a plus
Understanding of ANSI Y14.5 standards
Practice of GD&T
Hands‑on exposure to mechanical assemblies and repair
Familiar with Machinery’s Handbook standard design practices
5+ years of related mechanical design and drafting experience
Experience with downhole tools, and machine parts design is a plus
