Overview Lighting design and implementation for ORU concerts and events. Responsible for all lighting inventory and maintenance of lighting equipment. Primary intelligent lighting programmer for chapels, concerts and other ORU special events in Mabee Center and other venues on campus. Assists in the setup, installation, planning, and operation of audio, visual, and lighting (AVL) equipment on the ORU campus. Assists the Production Director and the Production Manager on special projects. Assists other Production Engineers with concert and production setup, operation, and teardown of production equipment. Experience with GrandMA lighting consoles, visualization software such as WYSIWYG, and CAD, such as Vectorworks, is required.

Responsibilities

Lighting design and operation for ORU concerts and events.

Work with clients to provide lighting design to enhance the event.

Collaborate with AVL engineers to meet audio, video, and lighting requirements for University, Mabee Center, GLC, and outside client events on campus.

Provide oversight of audio, visual, and lighting (AVL) equipment during functions in coordination with department production engineers; ensure successful equipment performance. Events include concerts, chapel services, campus worship, meetings, classes, lectures, and special events.

Set up and operate equipment for scheduled events.

Assist in the installation of new AVL systems in various facilities on campus (event spaces and lecture halls).

Work with the Production Manager to schedule and oversee student workers and equipment to fulfill EMS and AV Requisitions for events and classes or lectures.

Repair and maintenance of department equipment; serve as the primary person for lighting equipment inventory and repairs/maintenance.

Calculate costs for ORU events with technical requirements and submit reports to the Production Director.

Prepare proposals for replacement, repair, and preventive maintenance of audio, visual, and lighting equipment; contact vendors and prepare price estimates and purchase requisitions.

Competencies Education Requires High School diploma or GED

License or Certification Requirement(s) Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have an excellent driving record for the purpose of driving University vehicle.

Experience / Skills / Abilities Requires a minimum of two years full-time experience working in an entertainment center/event or educational AVL setting.

Must have working knowledge of large-scale lighting, sound, and video reinforcement systems and experience with intelligent lighting design for event and concert environments.

Proven ability in operating production equipment, including sound systems, video projection systems, computer-based video presentations, general AVL equipment, and intelligent lighting equipment. Must have a working knowledge of large-scale sound reinforcement systems and experience with setting up and/or operating AVL equipment. Ability to read and understand charts, diagrams, schematics and/or blueprints.

Ability to create lighting plots in Vectorworks or similar CAD software. Working knowledge of large-scale lighting networks using sACN and Artnet protocols. Understanding of electrical load calculations and safe rigging practices is required.

Previous experience supervising student workers, interns, or other staff is strongly preferred.

Must be computer literate, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Strong interpersonal, written, mathematical, and verbal communication skills; ability to troubleshoot problems, propose solutions quickly and accurately, and work under pressure.

Ability to take direction and follow up to ensure tasks are completed satisfactorily, accurately, and on time.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; able to work without constant supervision within established guidelines.

Maintains a high level of confidentiality and complies with FERPA.

Physical & Environmental Demands Includes sitting, standing, bending, stooping, walking, crouching, manual dexterity for operation of electronic equipment, twisting, and the ability to climb. Vision requirements include near, far, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Must hear clearly to distinguish tonal variances. Occasional exposure to dust, electrical hazards, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Work may occur indoors and outdoors at various locations on or off campus, in studios or large venues.
