Position Summary The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the on-site planning, coordination, and execution of new construction and development projects. This role oversees daily field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, codes, and quality standards. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, inspections, materials, and workforce activities from site preparation through project closeout.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Site Management
Manage all day-to-day on-site construction activities for new builds and development projects.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to maintain project schedules.
Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, building codes, and safety requirements.
Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, quality, and safety conditions.
Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photos, schedules, and field documentation.
Scheduling & Coordination
Develop and manage short-term and long-term look-ahead schedules.
Coordinate inspections, deliveries, utility connections, and sequencing of trades.
Work closely with Project Managers to resolve schedule conflicts and construction challenges.
Proactively identify risks or delays and implement corrective action.
Quality Control
Enforce workmanship standards and quality control processes across all phases of construction.
Perform punch walks and oversee completion of punch list items.
Ensure proper installation and coordination of structural, architectural, MEP, and site work.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety plans.
Conduct safety meetings and ensure jobsite compliance with safety protocols.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for owners, inspectors, architects, and engineers.
Communicate progress, issues, and milestones clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Lead and mentor field staff and subcontractors to foster accountability and teamwork.
Project Closeout
Coordinate final inspections, testing, and commissioning as required.
Ensure completion of as-built documentation and closeout requirements.
Support warranty and turnover processes.
Qualifications & Experience Required
5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on new build and development projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Proven experience managing subcontractors and multiple trades.
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and jobsite safety practices.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with project documentation and basic construction software/tools.
Preferred
Experience with ground-up commercial, residential, or mixed-use development.
OSHA 30 certification.
Technical or trade background.
Experience working directly with developers and ownership groups.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to work on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders, walk uneven terrain, and access all areas of the jobsite.
Occasional lifting of materials up to [XX] pounds.
Extended periods standing or walking on jobsite.
