
Energy Consultant

Responsibilities
Develop detailed energy models using industry-standard software (e.g., EnergyPlus, eQUEST, IESVE, OpenStudio) to evaluate building energy performance.
Perform calculations and prepare documentation for 179D tax deduction eligibility.
Data Analysis: Collect and analyze building system data and information to accurately assess energy efficiency.
Client Guidance: Provide expert consultation to clients, building owners, and peers on all aspects of 179D tax incentive. Provide technical expertise and support to clients regarding energy modeling results and tax deduction benefits.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and tax professionals, for an integrated approach to 179D tax incentives.
Communicate and resolve questions with clients while building lasting relationships.
Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and regulations related to energy efficiency and tax incentives.
Prepare reports, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
Requirements Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
1 to 3 years of relevant experience in energy modeling and energy simulation software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with construction design and construction processes. The ability to read, interpret, and explain engineering and architectural drawings is required.
Preferred
Experience with tax incentives
Advanced degree is a plus
Knowledge of ASHRAE standards for commercial and multifamily residential buildings.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
