Compensation Range The base pay scale for this position is $82,500.00 - $126,000.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. Senior Analyst – Strategy & Business Development The Senior Analyst plays an integral role on Hospital for Special Surgery’s (HSS) Strategy & Business Development team. The Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the organization and evolving the enterprise strategic plan. The team also oversees the annual operating plan process, coordinating between departments to develop a cohesive strategy. The team monitors industry trends, conducts competitive analyses, and assesses HSS’s market position on a regular basis to identify opportunities for growth and anticipate threats.
The Senior Analyst will report to the Senior Director and Manager of Strategy & Business Development, serving as the lead resource for market analysis and insights. In this role, the Senior Analyst serves as an internal consultant, applying data-driven insights and structured problem-solving to support strategic initiatives across the organization. The Analyst will shape market priorities, inform decisions related to partnerships and collaborations, and provide analytical and project support critical to advancing HSS’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Serves as the point person for market insights and analytics, developing a strong knowledge of the musculoskeletal market, competitor landscape and activity, trends in how care is delivered, patient preferences and expectations, and new market entrants.
Alerts leaders to important market activity and disruptions in real time. Understands implications for HSS, and informs leaders through clear and concise communication.
Leads market analytics to support the annual strategic planning refresh process, developing visualizations, monitoring trends, and identifying relevant data points to drive insights.
Maintains a strong knowledge of data sources and is the key point of contact for data vendor relationships. Serves as the subject matter expert on how data sources can be used to support analytic requests.
Supports senior leadership in managing key projects to on-time, on-budget completion.
Creates leadership-ready presentations that clearly and effectively convey key findings from analyses.
Assists in the development of internal/external materials around strategy including communications to board members, medical staff, and external audiences.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams including clinical departments, service lines, finance, and operations to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
Acts as a thought partner and internal consultant to stakeholders across the enterprise, helping frame strategic questions, evaluate options, and support decision-making.
Supports initiatives to increase market share and market capture, working closely with Director and Vice President of Strategy & Business Development.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required (Business or Health Administration, Economics, or related field preferred).
3-4 years related work experience in the healthcare industry, strategic planning, consulting, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
Strong interest in healthcare and knowledge around market trends.
Excellent analytics skills; ability to interpret data and report findings in a clear manner.
Ability to rigorously evaluate datasets, ensuring accuracy.
Ability to distill or add complexity to presentations based on outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Capable of managing complex assignments and working independently.
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to navigate ambiguity and proactively take on open-ended problems.
Strong computer skills and ability to understand and manipulate new data sources quickly.
Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel) data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
Basic knowledge of database structure and data retrieval using Standard Query Language (SQL).
