Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada (VOA-NCNN) is one of the largest providers of social services in the region, operating more than 40 programs including housing, employment services, substance abuse and recovery services, and providing shelter or housing to over 3,500 men, women, and children every night.

Program and Location VOA-NCNN is recruiting for a part-time Community Relations Coordinator position. This role may grow into full‑time.
Position Summary The Community Relations Coordinator will oversee volunteer management, in‑kind donation solicitation and processing, project management, and event coordination for the benefit of VOA programs or general needs. The Coordinator will report to the Development Officer and may assist in fundraising needs. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Objectives / Activities
Create and oversee a robust volunteer program, including volunteer opportunities, recruiting and training volunteers, responding to volunteer inquiries, record‑keeping of volunteer hours and forms, and managing volunteer events.
Manage events designed to enhance programs and services offered by VOA including birthday parties, craft nights, holiday activities, Operation Backpack, and more.
Manage in‑kind donations for services and programs in Sacramento, including record keeping. Receive in‑kind donation requests and solicit in‑kind donations to meet program needs.
Assist the Development Officer on corporate projects, sponsorships, and related needs to support programs or the general fund.
Assist VP of Development and Development Officer with various event needs such as scheduling, logistics, placing orders, budgeting, etc.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Equivalent Education and Experience Preferred Bachelor's Degree. Two years of experience in event and volunteer management required. Must have knowledge of and experience in event coordination and cultivating relationships including recruiting, training, and managing volunteers. Project management experience preferred. Experience with human services nonprofits desired. Must have a strong desire to work for an organization dealing with issues unique to homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health. Valid California driver’s license and ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines required.
