Position Overview We're seeking a highly motivated, technically inclined Business Development Associate to join our team in Sacramento as a key entry-level hire with massive growth potential. This full-time, in-person role reports directly to the CEO and is designed for recent graduates (or those with 0-3 years of experience) who are eager to dive deep into our enterprise software, master implementation projects, and build toward a full Business Development Manager role.
You'll work side-by-side with the CEO on special implementation projects, gaining hands-on expertise in NEXGEN's platform, client processes, and strategic deployment. This is a high-visibility, fast-paced opportunity for someone proactive, quick to learn, and driven to contribute to company growth from day one. Ideal for technical minds (e.g., computer science, engineering, IT, or related fields) who want to transition into strategic business development in SaaS/enterprise tech.
This full-time role is based in our Sacramento, CA office.
Responsibilities This role will work directly with the CEO on high-impact assignments that may include the following:
Participate in and support special client implementation projects from planning through go-live, learning NEXGEN's software architecture, configuration, and best practices in depth
Assist in gathering requirements, configuring solutions, troubleshooting, and ensuring successful deployments for key accounts
Conduct technical analysis, testing, and documentation to support implementation success
Shadow and collaborate on business development activities, including market research, opportunity identification, proposal support, and client relationship building
Learn sales processes, win strategies, and client-facing communication with executive guidance
Contribute to internal process improvements, software feedback loops, and growth initiatives
Take ownership of assigned tasks with a high degree of independence as skills develop
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business with a technical focus, or a related field (recent graduates strongly encouraged to apply)
0-3 years of professional experience; internships, co-ops, or technical projects count
Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn complex enterprise software systems
High motivation, initiative, and a proactive mindset you thrive in fast-paced environments and seek out challenges
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and comfort working directly with executive leadership
Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and translate them into business value
Experience or interest in SaaS, asset management, utilities, public works, or related industries is a plus
Must be able to work in-person full-time in our Sacramento office

The compensation range for the annual base pay for this position is $75,000 - $85,000, dependent upon experience.
