Director, Consumer Insights (Contract)


Our client, a global luxury fashion and accessories brand, is seeking a Director of Consumer Insights to join their team on a maternity leave contract. This role will be responsible for leading and executing a high-visibility consumer insights roadmap, partnering closely with senior leadership across brand, marketing, and merchandising teams.

This position reports into the VP of Consumer Insights and plays a critical role in shaping brand strategy through deep consumer understanding and data-driven decision making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the consumer insights learning agenda, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative research across key brand initiatives
  • Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights that strengthen consumer connection and inform brand strategy
  • Conduct pre-launch testing across the full development lifecycle (product, communications, retail experience, pricing) to optimize performance and resonance
  • Synthesize insights from broader studies (e.g., brand health, attitudinal research) and present recommendations to senior leadership
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure all strategies and activations are grounded in consumer-centric insights
  • Utilize a mix of custom research, syndicated data, and social listening tools to answer key business questions
  • Influence stakeholders across the organization and drive end-to-end brand strategy decisions rooted in insights


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Consumer Insights, Market Research, or Strategy, preferably in a client-side environment
  • Deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies (including TURF, MaxDiff, Conjoint, etc.)
  • Experience working with syndicated data sources (e.g., Circana/NPD, IRI, MRI, Mintel)
  • Strong ability to tell compelling, data-driven stories and present to executive-level stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, highly matrixed organizations and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and driving consumer-led decision making


Preferred Background:

  • Experience within retail, fashion, or consumer brands
  • Exposure to global markets and multi-channel/ecommerce strategies
  • Strong foundation in customer analytics and data-driven strategy development
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
