Job Description
Senior Commercial Real Estate Underwriter Location:
New York, NY
Russell Tobin is seeking a
Senior Underwriter
to support a commercial real estate lending platform focused on debt investments across the United States. This role will oversee the underwriting and due diligence process for commercial real estate debt transactions while working closely with originations, legal, and credit professionals throughout the deal lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Manage
6–8 deals simultaneously
in the underwriting pipeline for loans ranging from
$2MM – $50MM
secured by commercial real estate assets nationwide Review
credit approval memos and financial models
prepared by third-party diligence firms prior to submission to Credit Risk Management Analyze
operating statements, rent rolls, and lease agreements
to determine underwritten cash flow Identify potential deal risks and structure solutions to mitigate concerns Assist with deal presentations at
credit committee Support
loan securitization processes , including participation in B-buyer calls and responding to rating agency and investor inquiries Conduct
property site inspections
as part of the diligence process Order and review third-party reports including
appraisals, engineering, environmental, credit searches, tenant sales data, lease abstracts, and crime reports
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field 3–5+ years of experience
in commercial real estate loan underwriting, acquisitions due diligence, real estate valuation, or asset management Strong understanding of
commercial real estate finance and lending fundamentals Advanced
Excel modeling skills Experience with
CoStar
and
Argus
is a plus Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
