*GENERAL DUTIES*
Under the supervision of the South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services Joint Powers Board, the ambulance director will manage the operations of the South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Service (SCWEMS). Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the development, implementation and adherence to stand operational guidelines with the approval of the medical director in accordance with state and national standards. The ambulance director must stay appraised of current medical practices to ensure compliance and provide the latest patient treatment based on the latest medical standards. The ambulance director will promote a positive work environment to provide a quality care service with the patient's wellbeing as the primary objective.
*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND LICENSE*
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Wyoming Licensure as an EMS provider
3. Basic Life Support Certification
4. ICS 100, 700
5. Familiar with Wyoming's EMS operations, rules and regulations.
6. Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Wyoming Driver's License for class of vehicle operated.
7. Ability to use a work place laptop, familiar with scheduling and patient care report software, email, Microsoft office and google suite applications.

*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
1. Plans, promotes, organizes and implements the ambulance service goals and objectives as established by the SCWEMS Board and the Medical Director.
2. Reports directly to the Joint Powers Board and the Medical Director for the Service.
3. Oversees the paid and volunteer staff to ensure guideline compliance that adequate staffing is provided for 24- hour emergency patient care response.
4. Actively participates in recruitment and retention of ambulance staff, both paid and volunteer, in order to maintain an efficient and well-trained service.
5. Manages the process for application, interview, and background checks for potential medical providers and support staff, both paid and volunteer. Makes recommendations to the JPB Board for inclusion onto the SCWEMS service.
6. Coordinates and provides initial and reoccurring training to potential and current staff in order to provide quality patient care.
7. Maintains personnel files with strict confidentiality.
8. Performs yearly written personnel evaluations for paid staff to acknowledge good performance and identify potential areas of needed improvement. An initial evaluation will be done six months after the first day of service and annually from the individual's start date thereafter.
9. Ensures that all staff and volunteers adhere to all HIPPA requirements and that all protocols are followed as required. Director should have knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and laws addressing acts of discrimination and harassment.
10. Administers code of conduct and correctional discipline with a due process approach up to written reprimand. All other matters of discipline will be bought to the attention of the SCWEMS Board chairman, as the Board collectively serves as an appeal process.
11. Utilizes management practices to ensure the equipment inventory is maintained to a state of readiness and accurately accounted for.
12. Procures supplies and equipment based on a best price for quality approach in order to have efficient purchasing.
13. Ensures that staff keeps all ambulance units stocked with supplies and equipment required and that outdated or expired supplies are removed when necessary.
14. Ensures and assists staff in maintaining and accounting for all medications for each unit. Monitors the expiration dates of all medicines and supplies.
15. Ensures and assists staff so equipment condition and calibration are current and ready for use. If equipment condition is questionable, arranges for repair to bring equipment up to state of readiness.
16. Ensures and assists in maintaining facilities in an organized and secure fashion.
17. Directly responsible to ensure documents are maintained in an orderly fashion. This includes development and maintenance of memorandums of understanding agreements, trip tickets, reimbursement reports, station meeting minutes, and equipment check logs.
18. Assists the SCWEMS Board and Bookkeeper with budgeting by making requests based on State and National Standards of practice. Assists the SCWEMS bookkeeper in developing financial reports, payroll and clarifying questions and providing purchase receipts when using the Debit cards.
19. Researches grant opportunities and makes application for funds with approval of the SCWEMS Board in order to fund capital and operational purchases.
20. Responds to calls for service as necessary.
*JUDGEMENT AND WORK COMPLEXITY*
1. Must be competent to make decisions on a variety of complex problems. Creative thinking, cooperation with other entities/agencies and research skills are imperative for successful management of the service.
2. Coordination with other departments and entities, good working relationships must be initiated and maintained. People skills are a paramount part of the Ambulance Director's position and expectation for the position.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*
Mobility to work in emergency and non-emergency settings; lift or carry patient and equipment; operate a motor vehicle under emergency and non-emergency conditions; strength and stamina to perform service duties; vision to meet department standards; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and by radio.
*COMPENSATION, HOURS AND LOCATION*
1. The starting salary for this position is $50,000
2. The director is expected to work a 40- hour work week which should be flexible to allow for possible weekend and weekday evening hours.
3. The director may be expected to remain “on-call” or respond to requests for service outside of normal hours as necessary.
4. The Director will be based in Saratoga, WY, but is expected to make regular visits to outlying ambulance stations to assure compliance and to meet with both staff and volunteers on a regular basis and provide training. The director is provided with a vehicle to be used for working hours only.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
