Position Summary The

Director of Recreation

is responsible for overseeing all recreational programming and guest activities at a luxury resort, ensuring engaging, memorable, and high-quality experiences for guests of all ages. This role leads the strategy, development, and execution of activities including wellness, fitness, outdoor recreation, family programming, and seasonal events. The ideal candidate is an energetic, creative leader with strong operational skills and a passion for delivering exceptional, experience-driven hospitality.

Key Responsibilities Recreation Programming & Guest Experience Develop and execute a diverse recreation program including fitness classes, outdoor adventures, kids’ programs, and special events Create unique, destination-driven experiences aligned with the resort’s brand and location Ensure all recreation offerings meet luxury service standards Monitor guest feedback and continuously enhance programming Operations & Facility Oversight Oversee all recreation areas including pools, fitness centers, activity spaces, and outdoor venues Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of all facilities Manage daily operations, scheduling, and activity coordination Ensure compliance with safety standards and risk management protocols Team Leadership & Development Recruit, train, and manage recreation staff including activity coordinators, fitness instructors, and attendants Foster a positive, energetic, and guest-focused team culture Conduct training programs focused on service excellence and safety Manage staffing levels based on seasonality and occupancy Financial Management Develop and manage departmental budgets and expenses Drive revenue through paid activities, rentals, and programming Monitor labor costs and departmental profitability Track participation levels and program performance Collaboration & Resort Integration Partner with Spa, Food & Beverage, Rooms, and Sales teams to create integrated guest experiences Support group programming, weddings, and special events Collaborate with Marketing to promote activities and seasonal offerings Required Qualifications 3–5+ years of experience in recreation, activities, or resort operations leadership Experience in

luxury resort or destination hospitality environments Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Experience managing teams and delivering guest-focused programming CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain) Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays Preferred Qualifications Background in outdoor recreation, wellness, or experiential programming Experience in family-friendly or multi-generational resort environments Certification in fitness, recreation, or hospitality management Experience with seasonal or high-volume resort operations Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary Performance-based incentives Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and holidays Resort perks and career advancement opportunities
