* Job Title: Gas Fitter for Home Standby Generator Installation
Location : Ashland, VA Job Type : Full-time Job Overview : We are seeking a skilled and licensed Gas Plumber to join our growing team specializing in residential home standby generator installations. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, sizing, testing, and servicing natural gas and propane fuel systems that support whole-home backup generators. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to safety standards, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities :
* Install natural gas and propane piping systems for residential standby generators * Perform gas load calculations and ensure proper pipe sizing * Install regulators, shutoff valves, and sediment traps per code * Pressure test gas lines and perform leak detection * Coordinate with electricians and generator installers on complete system setup * Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national fuel gas codes * Obtain and manage required permits and inspections * Troubleshoot and repair gas supply issues * Maintain clean and safe job sites * Provide clear communication and professional customer interaction
Required Skills & Qualifications :
* Valid Gas Fitter / Gas Plumber license (state-specific) * 3+ years of experience in residential gas piping * Experience with standby generators (preferred) * Knowledge of NFPA 54 and local fuel gas codes * Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications * Strong troubleshooting skills * Valid driver's license with clean driving record * Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications :
* Experience with propane tank installations * Experience working with major generator brands * HVAC or additional mechanical certifications * OSHA certification
Physical Requirements :
* Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs.) * Comfortable working in outdoor and indoor environments, including tight spaces.
