What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our dynamic team responsible for managing a large-scale enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) system. This system delivers best-in-class engineering solutions that support our Nuclear Deterrence (ND) and Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) customers.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Capture and define technical and business functional requirements
  • Create and define application architecture designs as per business requirements
  • Plan, document, perform and test complex upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within a complex multi-tier system
  • Researches, assembles, and evaluates information or data regarding industry practices or regulatory changes affecting policies or programs of various information system domains.
  • Interfaces with the customers, internal or external to Sandia. to elicit and define information system requirements.
  • Researches, prototypes, architects, and designs solutions for effective operation of mission enabling or direct mission information systems, especially in cloud infrastructure
  • Accountable to internal or external customers for overall technical performance of information systems.
  • Responsible for resolving issues that require architectural changes.
  • Develops strategic solutions that reduce future life-cycle costs and position Sandia synergistically for future mission work.
  • Advances solution space by resolving complex, difficult, or unique information system issues using creative, effective, and possibly leading-edge solutions.
  • Evaluates and select commercial-off-the-shelf or open source information systems domain options.

*The selected applicant will work a hybrid schedule, combining onsite and remote work. They must reside within a reasonable commute distance to the assigned work location and be available to work onsite at least three days per week.

Salary Range

$117,500 - $235,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Plus, five years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q level security clearance, and which might require a polygraph test (random selection).

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with installing, configuring, and administering complex multi-tier web-based applications
  • Understanding of enterprise and network services like Virtual Servers, DNS, LDAP and Databases
  • Experience configuring web servers and scripting in PowerShell and/or windows command
  • Experience configuring Apache Web Server on Windows
  • Experience managing a Windows Server to include familiarity with basic Windows tools such as Event Manager, Tasks and Services.
  • Experience configuring applications that connect to Oracle, Mongo and/or MSSQL databases
  • Experience with Entra/OIDC
  • Experience writing system level scripts to include PowerShell and basic command shell for automating administrative tasks
  • Experience with Microsoft Technologies and M365 SaaS products
  • Experience in Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with automating processes via scripting and DevOps pipelines
  • Experience with creating Azure security and governance policies (i.e., writing and creating definitions, creating assignments, fixing broken policies, etc.)

About Our Team

The Product Data Management Operations Enterprise Technical Solutions department (9357) is responsible for the strategy definition, development, and implementation of modern, efficient, scalable and secure next generation PDM engineering solutions used throughout the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) and provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for the Out Of The Box (OOTB) capabilities provided by the Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Windchill PDMLink application. The 9357 mission enables the goal of the Nuclear Weapons Stockpile (NA-122) Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise (PRIDE) program which is to enable a digital integrated Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).

Posting Duration

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
