Overview
We are seeking a full-time Printed Circuit Board Designer 2 in our Cochrane, AB location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating broadly defined complex Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs from schematics and input from Product Design and Mechanical Engineers using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
Essential Functions
Partner with Product Design Engineers and Mechanical Engineers to produce complex PCB Designs that are timely, robust, and economical
Data setup for complex PCB designs
Independently determines general approach and provides reliable solutions to technical problems
Collaborates and adds value to engineering design reviews
Contributes to determining feasibility of project goals/objectives
Contributes to testing tools introduced to the team
Contributes to PCB Design process improvement projects
Ability to mentor one or more PCB Designers
Demonstrates expert knowledge in PCB Design and Engineering processes
Practices PCB Design's Mission and Vision Statement and exhibits enthusiasm for and a desire to see Garmin succeed
Basic Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience performing similar consumer electronics industry duties OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrate proficient use and thorough knowledge of PCB design best practices and design standards for surface mount, through hole, and up to 2-N-2 HDI designs
Demonstrate expert proficiency using ECAD tools and a thorough knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes
Demonstrate an ability to interpret basic design intent from schematics
Proficiency using personal computers and Microsoft Office applications
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Cadence Allegro
Working knowledge of all types of electronic components
Working knowledge of electronic circuits theory of operation
