Job Description NBC News NOW is launching a new live two-hour show airing 10a–noon, and we’re building a dynamic, collaborative team to define its voice and pace from day one.
We’re looking for a Segment Producer who thrives in live news, writes with clarity, and knows how to produce visually compelling, editorially elevated segments under pressure.

What You’ll Do
Produce live segments from pitch to air, including research, scripting, element gathering, and execution
Write sharp anchor intros, questions, teases, and banners with speed and accuracy
Identify the strongest angles for interviews and work closely with guests, correspondents, and booking teams
Collaborate with your team, Anchors and colleagues across NBC
Pitch timely, relevant, and original segment ideas for day‑of and future coverage
Ensure all scripts, graphics, and video meet NBC News standards for accuracy and fairness
Lead your segment in the control room during live broadcasts, adjusting quickly as breaking news unfolds
Edit video elements and oversee packages to ensure strong visual storytelling as needed
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in broadcast, cable, or streaming news
3+ years of experience producing live daily news segments
Excellent writing skills and strong editorial judgment
Experience working on a live news show
Ability to multitask and make smart decisions under tight deadlines
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Must be willing to work early morning hours and contribute in person at 30 Rock

A journalist first, with a deep understanding of current events and national news
Strong control room instincts and the ability to stay calm under pressure
Creative thinker with an eye for elevated production and compelling visuals
Experience editing video in Avid and/or Premiere
Collaborative leader who communicates clearly and supports team success
Willing and able to mentor and grow junior members of the team
Energized by breaking news and the fast pace of a live streaming environment
A demonstrated commitment to building a long‑term career in journalism
Additional Requirements
Hybrid
– This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week at 30 Rock. The Company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements at any time.
Schedule Monday–Friday, 4:00am–12:00pm ET
