Commercial Underwriting Analyst – The Auto Club Group/Fremont Insurance
Job Type: Full time
Exempt/Non Exempt: Hourly
Job Description: This position requires in office (Fremont, MI) training at least 3 days a week for a minimum of 120 days or until training is successfully completed. After training is completed, this person can participate in a hybrid work schedule as approved by management.
What you will do Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews and analyzes internal/external investigations, inspections and/or statuses to ensure rating/premium value integrity and meet underwriting guidelines and corporate goals.
Initiates policy adjustments for commercial product lines and tabulates results.
Compares rating characteristics of specific accounts, formulates a course of action to ensure compliance with corporate underwriting rules and procedures.
Provides advanced technical and product information in response to queries.
Attends training as required.
Corresponds and maintains professional relationships with agents and producers, explaining reasons for policy adjustments.
Updates rating criteria on affected policies.
Completes activity sheets for monthly reports and calculates premiums recovered to assess impact of inappropriate ratings.
Underwrites and processes renewals and endorsements within commercial underwriting analyst authority level; works with underwriter, senior underwriter, or supervisor if outside authority level.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Two years insurance experience
Experience reviewing claims for possible changes in rating or acceptability status
Experience analyzing insurance needs and determining appropriate coverage levels
Experience working with various commercial insurance product lines
Experience investigating and validating proper rating
Knowledge of company underwriting policies, procedures and practices
Knowledge of inspection techniques related to commercial insurance
Effective communication skills
Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
Proficiency in accessing and using rate account information on a computer terminal
Ability to review new or renewal commercial insurance accounts to determine appropriate rating classifications
Experience working within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
College level coursework in Business Administration or a related field
CPCU, IIA, CIC or other insurance related coursework
Work Environment This position is currently able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operations unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is required. This may change based on updates to the ACG Flex Work policy.
