Communications Officer

Receives telephone calls from district employees and the general public reporting irregularities, incidents, and emergencies at schools and other district facilities; obtains necessary information regarding routine or emergency situations; relays such as vandalism, loitering, burglaries, and suspicious activities to school safety personnel for assistance; monitors intrusion alarm systems at the dispatch center; dispatches safety personnel or other public safety personnel to district sites as needed; reports alarm malfunctions for maintenance service; maintains files; makes necessary contact to Fire Department, Sheriff’s Department and other emergency agencies as needed; operates and monitors two-way radio equipment to receive and transmit information from school safety officers and other departments such as Transportation and Maintenance; transmits messages between local law enforcement agencies or emergency service units and appropriate district personnel; types and maintains required security logs; maintains Use of Facility documents, and incident/crime reports as required; performs live-scan and issues district identification badges as needed; provides information, directions, and other assistance to visitors and the general public as needed; provides security assistance at extra-curricular activities (football games and graduations) as required; works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays; and is available for emergency situations.
