Client Accounting Services Director

Our client, a well-established regional advisory and accounting firm headquartered in the Northeast, is looking to bring on a senior leader to help scale their outsourced accounting and advisory services practice. This individual will play a key role in expanding the firm’s footprint within the middle-market by developing new client relationships while also acting as a strategic advisor to a portfolio of existing clients. The position is highly visible internally and externally and is designed for someone who enjoys combining client development with hands‑on advisory leadership. The firm offers a collaborative partnership track environment and strong internal resources to support continued practice growth.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth of the firm’s outsourced accounting and advisory services practice by identifying and securing new client engagements.
  • Cultivate relationships with business owners, investors, and professional referral sources to build a consistent pipeline of opportunities.
  • Lead proposal development, engagement structuring, and pricing strategies for new clients.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to clients, providing guidance around financial strategy, operational performance, and business planning.
  • Oversee delivery of outsourced accounting services including financial reporting, month‑end close processes, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure client deliverables are accurate, timely, and provide meaningful insights to leadership teams.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts through cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals while helping establish scalable processes and best practices.
  • Participate in firmwide initiatives around growth strategy, internal training, and operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities in public accounting, advisory, or outsourced accounting services.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow client relationships and contribute to revenue generation.
  • Experience advising small to mid‑sized businesses on financial performance, reporting, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Strong familiarity with modern cloud‑based accounting platforms and financial systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams while maintaining high standards of client service.
