Digital Content Specialist

Purpose
The Digital Content Specialist plays a key role in bringing the cooperative’s story to life across digital platforms through compelling visual and multimedia content. This position is responsible for capturing, creating, and sharing content that informs, engages, and strengthens connections with members, employees, and the communities served by Coweta-Fayette EMC and True Natural Gas.
Responsibilities
Digital Content Creation & Visual Storytelling
Capture and produce engaging photo and video content that highlights the cooperative’s work, including field operations, community impact, employee initiatives, and member services
Create short‑form video content (Reels, YouTube Shorts, and similar formats) to support digital engagement and storytelling initiatives
Produce and edit content using mobile and desktop tools, including green screen and in‑house video production techniques
Develop visual content that supports campaigns, promotions, and educational initiatives across digital platforms
Assist with longer‑form video projects and promotional storytelling as needed
Actively participate and represent the Cooperative in community, civic, and educational programs, events and projects to promote a favorable public image of the Cooperative
Maintain and update the Cooperative’s website
Social Media & Digital Engagement
Manage day‑to‑day social media activity across cooperative platforms under the guidance of the Public Relations and Communications Manager
Create, schedule, and publish content that aligns with the cooperative’s communication goals and brand standards
Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with members and the community in a timely and professional manner
Support social media advertising campaigns and promotions
Track engagement metrics and provide insight into content performance and audience interaction
Collaborate with the Communications Content Coordinator and broader communications team to execute content plans and campaigns
Support the development of communication materials across digital and print platforms, including social media, website content, internal communications, and newsletters
Assist with communication planning and execution for key initiatives, including storm response, rate communications, and member education efforts
Research industry trends and cooperative‑related topics to support content development and storytelling opportunities
Field & Community Content Coverage
Capture content in the field across the cooperative’s service area, including job sites, community events, and member‑focused programs
Support coverage of cooperative initiatives such as Operation Round Up, youth programs, and community outreach efforts
Participate in occasional evening and weekend events to capture content and support cooperative visibility
Website & Digital Platform Support
Assist with maintaining and updating website content, including stories, videos, and member resources
Support digital content uploads and ensure consistency across platforms
Departmental Support & Growth
Assist with preparing reports and analytics that demonstrate the impact of digital communication efforts
Provide input on new ideas, formats, and approaches to expand and strengthen the cooperative’s digital presence
Support department initiatives and projects as assigned
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience
2–4 years of experience in digital content creation, communications, social media, or related field
Experience in a cooperative, utility, nonprofit, or community‑focused organization preferred
Strong photography and videography skills with the ability to capture and edit content for digital platforms
Experience creating short‑form video content (Reels, Shorts, etc.) and an understanding of current digital trends
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva
Strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and audience engagement strategies
Ability to work in both office and field environments, including outdoor and operational settings
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, including field crews and leadership
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast‑paced environment
Creative thinker with the ability to bring new ideas forward while aligning with brand standards
Self‑starter with high ownership, flexibility, and a team‑first mindset
Relationships
Reports to: Public Relations and Communications Manager
Works closely with: Communications Content Coordinator, Community Relations Coordinator, and VP of Communications & Public Relations
Internal Relationships
Collaborates with departments across the cooperative, including operations, engineering, member services, safety, human resources, and leadership, to capture and communicate the cooperative’s work and impact.
External Relationships
Members, community partners, schools, vendors, media outlets, and organizations supporting cooperative initiatives.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Regular travel within the cooperative’s service area to capture field and community content
Occasional evening and weekend work for events and content coverage
Ability to work in both office and outdoor environments, including active job sites
Availability during emergency and storm situations as needed
