Job Summary
The Social Media and Content Specialist will work part‑time (up to 17 hours per week) on the Walla Walla campus to advance the college’s mission by creating and managing engaging social media content that increases access, community connection, enrollment, and trust among prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

General Responsibilities

Expanding access and awareness: Promote programs, financial aid and flexible learning options through targeted social media messaging to reach traditional students, adult learners and underserved communities.

Strengthening community connection: Use social channels as a front door to highlight partnerships, local impact and student success stories that reinforce the college’s role in supporting vibrant communities and workforce development.

Supporting enrollment and retention goals: Produce strategic content for program highlights and student services that guides prospective students from interest to enrollment, directly supporting growth and persistence.

Humanizing the college experience: Share storytelling features of faculty, students and classroom moments to build belonging and inclusion.

Ensuring brand clarity and trust: Maintain consistent, accurate, on‑brand messaging that serves as a reliable source of truth during change or uncertainty.

Amplifying institutional priorities: Communicate new programs, workforce pathways and strategic initiatives clearly and consistently to the right audiences.

Essential Functions

Develop and write consistent brand‑aligned content.

Plan, create, and schedule engaging posts for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Indeed, and emerging channels.

Write clear, compelling captions and messaging.

Produce photo and video content showcasing students, programs, faculty and campus life.

Capture, edit, and produce engaging media for digital platforms.

Collaborate with the Marketing Team and other departments to align content with campaigns and institutional goals.

Gather accurate, timely content and promote programs, events and initiatives.

Create performance reports and track analytics to measure and improve engagement.

Monitor, analyze, and report on social media metrics such as engagement, reach, impressions and growth.

Use data‑driven insights to refine strategy and optimize results.

Competencies

Understanding of current social media trends and best practices.

Ability to engage respectfully with a diverse community.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, media, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business, or brand.

Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.

Experience creating content with mobile devices and basic editing tools.

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

Experience in higher education, nonprofit or public sector communications.

Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools such as Meta.

Basic photography and video editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar).

Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Conditions / Terms of Employment
The part‑time temporary position is located at the Walla Walla Campus. The employee will work in the field across campus and within the college’s service area, as well as in an indoor office environment using standard office equipment. Travel to event locations may be required (some up to 100 miles). The schedule is flexible, up to 17 hours per week, with occasional evening or event coverage as needed.

Vacation, sick leave and personal leave benefits are available on a pro‑rated basis.

Applicants must provide documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three days of employment. The college participates in E‑Verify and requires a Form I‑9 and may conduct a background check. All employees are required to use direct deposit. The campus is tobacco free.
